Accessing and grading student lesson work

Follow

When a lesson assignment is created in Flocabulary, you can view student progress by selecting the class from the My Classes section. Teachers will be able to see a list of their assignments and which students have completed the assignments. The Vocab Game, Read & Respond, Quiz activities, and Break it Down* multiple choice questions will be automatically graded, while the Vocab Cards, Lyric Lab, and Break it Down open-ended questions will need to be manually graded by the teacher.

Watch the video below for an overview of reviewing lesson assignments in Flocabulary.

In this article, we will look at how you can:

*Note: The Break it Down activity is only available to teachers and students on Flocabulary Plus school and district plans

While logged into your teacher account, click on the My Classes section that appears at the top of the page and select the class you want to view.

For each assignment, you will see the name of the assignment, the assigned date and the due date. Each activity in the assignment will be listed and you will see how many students have submitted it so far out of the total number. Hover over the assignment that you want to monitor and click “Review” to view results for that assignment.

For each assignment, you will be able to select from three views: Summary, Individual Review, and Comprehension Analysis.

Review summary data for the entire class

The summary view displays your class roster and indicates which students completed which assignments.

mceclip3.png

  • The Video will show as either complete (filled green circle) or incomplete (open circle).
  • The Vocab Game, Read & Respond, Quiz, and Break it Down multiple choice questions will automatically be graded and you will see the student's grade listed in the summary view.
  • You will see a blue Grade button once a student has submitted their Vocab Cards, Break it Down open-ended questions or Lyric Lab. These activities need to be manually graded by the teacher.
  • If you click the arrow next to the student's score, it will give them a second opportunity to complete the activity.

If you click on any of the individual activities in the grid, it will take you to the Individual Review section for the student and activity that you selected. More information on what can be found in the Individual Review will be shared below.

Individual Review

The Individual View allows you to view student scores individually. This is also the view where you can grade the Vocab Cards, Break it Down and Lyric Lab assignments. You can click on any of the completed activities from the Summary section to navigate here, or click on the Individual Review tab from the assignment screen.

mceclip0.png

From the Individual Review section, select the activity and student from the drop-down menus. Only students who have submitted the activity selected will be shown in the drop-down list.

mceclip1.png

Vocab Cards

In the Vocab Cards section, you will see details from students who have submitted this activity. You can see each card the student completed, including both the written response and the drawing.

mceclip2.png

You can select a grade from the four choices and provide comments for each card. No credit will calculate as 0%, check- will calculate as 70%, check will calculate as 85%, and check+ will calculate as 100%. The total grade will automatically be calculated based on how you grade each card.

mceclip4.png

Use the "previous card" and "next card" options to view and assess each Vocab Card assigned in the activity.

mceclip5.png

Vocab Game

In the Vocab Game section, you will be able to see how each individual student responded to each question and their overall score. A green check indicates a correct response was selected and a red X indicates an incorrect response was selected. For incorrect questions, you will be able to see which response the student selected and the correct response. You can click on the green and red circles at the top to navigate to any of the questions or use the blue arrows on the left or right sides of the screen.

mceclip0.png

Break it Down

In the Break it Down section, you can see how the student answered the multiple choice question(s) and what they scored. For the video evidence and open-ended questions, you can select a grade from the four choices and provide a comment. No credit will calculate as 0%, check- will calculate as 70%, check will calculate as 85%, and check+ will calculate as 100%. Click Next to move on to the next question set if there are multiple question sets in the activity, and Submit when you are done grading.  The scores from the multiple choice, video evidence and open-ended questions will then be combined into a total score for the activity.

Read & Respond

In the Read & Respond section, you can see the text selection and answer choices that were provided along with how the student responded to the question. As with the Vocab Game, a green check indicates a correct response was selected and a red X indicates an incorrect response was selected. For incorrect questions, you will be able to see which response the student selected and the correct response. You can click on the circles to navigate to any of the questions or use the back and next buttons.

mceclip1.png

Quiz

In the Quiz section, you can see how each student responded to every question in the quiz. You will see a summary of the individual student's responses at the top of the screen. Similar to the other activities, a green check indicates a correct response was selected and a red X indicates an incorrect response was selected. You can click on the circles to navigate to any of the questions or use the back and next buttons.

mceclip6.png

For incorrect questions, you will be able to see which response the student selected and the correct response.

mceclip7.png

Lyric Lab

In the Lyric Lab section, you will see details from students who have submitted this activity. For each student, you will see the rhymes they submitted on the left side of the screen with the vocabulary words highlighted in green. A list of all the vocabulary words for that lesson can be found on the right side of the screen. Any words that were used in the rhyme will be highlighted in green on the right side of the screen.

mceclip3.png

From the drop-down above the submission, you can select how many points to award the student from 0-10 and type any comments in the space provided.

Comprehension Analysis

The Comprehension Analysis gives you a question-by-question view into how all students responded on the Vocab Game, Quiz and Read & Respond. For the Vocab Game, the results will be organized by word. You can use the drop-down menu at the top of the page to navigate between the three activities available in the Comprehension Analysis.

mceclip7.png

If a question is highlighted in green, it means the student answered correctly; if it shows up red, the students answered incorrectly. This is a great way to identify gaps in understanding and skill mastery across your class.

mceclip8.png

If you click on a question at the top of the table, you will see the percentage who answered that question correct listed at the top of that column. The question will be shown to the right of the table.

Export Scores

You can download a summary of the assignment by clicking on "Export Scores" in the top right corner of any assignment.

mceclip9.png

This will download a CSV file of the assignment results. It will list the name of the lesson, start and end dates, student names, and how they scored for each activity you assigned. You could then copy and paste the scores into a grade book of your choice or use the information for progress monitoring.
